About the Role :

As the AI Engineering Lead, you will work with the Founders and an engineering team of 4-8 people to design, develop, and build AI-native applications and backend systems. You will architect and build the foundational systems of NextAlpha's finance agents, including batch and real-time multi-modal data pipelines and multi-agent systems. This is a key role in shaping a new product category in the Indian financial services market.

Role Responsibilities :

- Define multi-year technical roadmaps for the next-generation equity research platform, including system architecture, AI model strategy, and long-term scalability goals.

- Translate product ideas and research into reliable, enterprise-grade AI systems, collaborating closely with founders, engineers, and domain experts to take LLM-powered features from prototype to production.

- Engage with customers and research analysts to understand workflows, data needs, and compliance requirements, and design scalable AI-driven solutions that integrate smoothly into their processes.

- Build and lead a strong engineering team of Software Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, and Interns, setting engineering standards, review processes, and experimentation guidelines.

- Architect and deliver key AI and data components, including data pipelines, retrieval systems, multi-agent workflows, and production automation frameworks.

- Own the design and running of evaluation pipelines, covering model accuracy, latency, hallucination detection, and drift monitoring using both automated and human-in-the-loop methods.

- Implement best practices to minimize hallucinations and improve model reliability, such as retrieval augmentation, fact-checking routines, and prompt/model optimization.

- Oversee the full lifecycle of LLM systems, including model selection, fine-tuning, deployment, monitoring, and cost/performance optimization.

- Ensure safe, auditable, and compliant AI systems, partnering with product, engineering, and compliance teams to meet financial research standards.

Required Qualifications :

- 4-6 years of relevant work experience.

- Experience building enterprise-grade batch and real-time data pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Degree in Computer Science from Tier-1 college

- Previous experience with multi-modal search, domain-specific LLMs, and AI.

- Experience leading small software and ML teams (2-5 people).

Good to Have :

- Previous experience at a fast-paced startup.

- Experience building 0-1 products in any domain.

- Advanced degrees (M.S./Ph.D.) in a relevant field.
