Network Tools Engineer L4 / Automation Engineer SolarWinds Powershell development.

We are seeking a highly skilled SolarWinds Engineer to manage, optimize and automate various functions of our SolarWinds platform.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the SolarWinds Orion suite, with experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of the platform as well as PowerShell Development.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring observability, performance monitoring, and automation across our global infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities :

- Administer and maintain the SolarWinds Orion platform, including NPM, NCM, SAM, VNQM, and other modules.

- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automating SolarWinds tasks such as :

1. Node onboarding/offboarding.

2. Alert suppression or muting during maintenance windows.

3. Custom alert/report generation and distribution o SolarWindsServiceNow integration enhancements.

- Implement custom monitoring logic, automated diagnostics, and integrations via Orion API, SWIS, and REST endpoints.

- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand automation needs and deliver solutions that support observability workflows.

- Build tools and utilities to support monitoring self-service, reporting automation, and configuration validation.

- Manage custom Pollers, SNMP configurations, and agentless/agent-based monitoring across multi-vendor environments.

- Design and optimize SWQL and SQL queries to support reports and custom dashboards for tailored views.

- Configure and maintain alert logic, escalation policies, and notification integrations (e.g, with ServiceNow, email, Teams).

- Participate in incident triage and root cause analysis, leveraging SolarWinds logs and metrics.

- Maintain security posture of the application, including RBAC, SNMPv3, and audit logging.

- Contribute to and maintain Kanban board tasks and documentation related to SolarWinds projects and issues.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 5+ years of hands-on experience managing SolarWinds environments (Orion Platform 2020.6 or newer).

- 3+ years of PowerShell development experience focused on infrastructure and monitoring automation.

- Strong experience with Orion SDK, SWQL Studio, and SolarWinds API integrations.

- Strong understanding of PowerShell classes, modules, error handling, and parallelization techniques.

- SQL Server knowledge, including query optimization, performance tuning, and CTEs.

- Familiarity with network topology mapping, NetPath, and NetFlow analysis.

- Experience in large-scale monitoring environments (>1000 nodes).

- Solid understanding of Windows Server, IIS, and system-level diagnostics.

- Comfortable working in Kanban/Agile environments with tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.

- Strong communication skills to collaborate with multiple teams and technical stakeholders.

Preferred :

- Exposure to event-driven automation, such as responding to alerts with corrective actions.

- Past work automating SolarWinds alert tuning, configuration, or compliance reporting.

- Exposure to ServiceNow integrations, REST APIs, and webhook configuration.
