We're seeking a technically sound and proactive L2 Network Engineer to support and troubleshoot enterprise network environments. This role requires hands-on experience with switching protocols, firewall platforms, wireless controllers, and WAN architectures. The ideal candidate will manage escalated network incidents and contribute to configuration, optimization, and monitoring efforts.
Key Responsibilities :
- Troubleshoot and support switching technologies including VLAN configuration, STP loops, trunking, and port authentication
- Diagnose and resolve issues with firewalls including Cisco ASA, Fortinet FortiGate, and Checkpoint, such as access rules, NAT policies, and VPN connectivity
- Monitor and maintain Fortinet SD-WAN architecture and associated link health and failover policies
- Administer wireless infrastructures such as Cisco WLC, Aruba, and Meraki, including AP provisioning, SSID management, and user connectivity
- Perform routine DNS, DHCP, and NTP configuration checks and issue remediation
- Escalate unresolved issues to L3 or vendor support, while maintaining accurate incident documentation
- Assist with device firmware upgrades and patch management schedules
- Participate in network performance tuning and capacity planning initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure deployments and change requests
- Ensure documentation updates for network maps, SOPs, and knowledge base articles
Must have skills
- Good understanding of L2 switching principles: VLAN tagging, STP, trunk/access modes
- Familiarity with rule-based firewall policies, IPS/IDS logs, and VPN troubleshooting
- Exposure to SD-WAN routing principles, link monitoring, and traffic prioritization
- Hands-on experience with wireless controllers, AP registration, and roaming behavior
- Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and NTP services in distributed environments
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to documentation and SLAs
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors
