L1/L2 Firewall Engineer - Network Security

Job Summary :

We are looking for a skilled Firewall Engineer (L1L2) to design, implement, monitor, and maintain firewall solutions within our enterprise network.

The candidate will ensure secure network access, protect against unauthorized access, and support incident response related to network security events.

Key Responsibilities :

- Configure, monitor, and maintain enterprise firewall systems (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point, Juniper, etc.).

- Implement security policies, access control rules, and VPN configurations.

- Monitor firewall logs and alerts, investigate and respond to incidents.

- Perform rule audits, policy optimization, and regular firewall health checks.

- Collaborate with network and security teams for network segmentation, vulnerability mitigation, and incident response.

- Document firewall policies, configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

- Assist in troubleshooting network connectivity issues related to firewall configurations.

- Support security audits and compliance activities (ISO 27001, NIST, etc.).

- Escalate complex issues to senior security engineers or SOC teams (for L2).

Required Skills :

- Hands-on experience with firewall technologies (Cisco ASA/FTD, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point, Juniper SRX).

- Understanding of TCP/IP, VPNs, NAT, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).

- Knowledge of network security concepts: IDS/IPS, VLANs, DMZ, VPNs.

- Ability to analyze logs and security alerts for threat detection.

- Experience in firewall rule creation, modification, and troubleshooting.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with Firewall migration and upgrade projects.

- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).

- Basic scripting knowledge for automation (Python, Shell).

- Understanding of SIEM integration with firewalls.
