About the Role :

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior MySQL Database Administrator to oversee, optimize, and strengthen our database ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in administering large-scale MySQL environments, ensuring high availability, performance efficiency, and robust security standards. This role requires strong technical expertise along with cross-functional collaboration to support mission-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities :

Database Administration :

- Manage, configure, and maintain MySQL databases across development, staging, and production environments.

Backup & Recovery :

- Perform regular backups, restore operations, and implement strong disaster recovery and failover mechanisms.

Replication Management :

- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot different types of MySQL replication (e.g., MasterSlave, GTID-based replication).

Performance Tuning :

- Optimize query performance, index strategies, database parameters, and server configurations to enhance system efficiency.

Security & Compliance :

- Implement and maintain database security policies, user access controls, auditing, and proactive health monitoring.

Capacity Planning :

- Forecast storage, CPU, and memory requirements and ensure optimal resource utilization.

Collaboration :

- Work closely with application development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support releases, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless DB operations.

Documentation :

- Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, SOPs, and guidelines for database procedures.

Skills Required :

Primary Skills :

- Strong hands-on experience with MySQL installation, configuration, and tuning

- Expertise in backup and recovery strategies

- In-depth knowledge of MySQL replication architectures (MasterSlave, GTID, etc.)

- Proficiency in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and query optimization

Secondary Skills (Good to Have) :

- Experience working with Azure Cloud database services

- Scripting skills in Shell or Python for automation

- Exposure to monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Percona Toolkit, etc.

Requirements :

- 9+ years of proven experience as a MySQL Database Administrator

- Solid understanding of database internals, indexing, caching, and optimization techniques

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

- Excellent communication and documentation skills

- Immediate joiners preferred

- Must be willing to work from the Coimbatore office
