Database Operations Engineer L3

Kapitus is seeking highly skilled Database Operations (L3) to support and operate enterprise databases within the AWS RDS ecosystem. This role is responsible for hands- on database operations, automation, performance optimization, and CI/CD integration, working closely with engineering teams and reporting into the Manager, Database Operations.

The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor with deep technical expertise, capable of owning complex database environments and driving operational excellence.

What you will do :

- Manage and support AWS RDS databases (Aurora, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle)

- Perform patching, upgrades, backup/recovery, and vulnerability remediation

- Execute performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning

- Provide L3 support, participate in on-call, and perform RCA

- Support data virtualization and masking using Delphix

- Build and manage infrastructure using Terraform / CloudFormation / CDK

- Integrate database deployments into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.)

- Configure monitoring & alerts (CloudWatch, Datadog, etc.)

- Collaborate with engineering teams on database design and deployments

What were looking for :

- 8 to 10 years of DBA experience with strong AWS RDS expertise

- Hands-on experience in patching, HA/DR, backup/recovery

- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation/CDK)

- Experience with CI/CD for database deployments

- Strong SQL and performance tuning skills

- Scripting knowledge (Python/Bash/PowerShell)

- Must have AWS certifications

- Good to have Flyway/Liquibase

- Familiarity with DevOps/SRE practices

- Good to have Experience with Delphix

- Adhere to change management and other established processes and procedures

- Refine, automate, and advocate for automation, standardized processes, issue tracking, and process improvement

- Create and Maintain documentation as well as operational knowledge base.

Desired Additional Knowledge :

- Understanding of Containers and Event driven technology

- Understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD, etc.

- Strong understanding of SDLC methodology

- Strong understanding of web technologies, including REST APIs

- Ability to automate various Database and Data Operations tasks using AI agents

- Ability to create IaaC templates using Terraform or Open Tofu
