JavaScript Automation Test Engineer

Summary:

We are looking for a skilled JavaScript Automation Test Engineer to join the Quality Engineering team of a leading Product Development client in Bangalore. The role will focus on designing, developing and maintaining robust automated test frameworks for web applications and APIs. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Playwright, Cypress and API testing, along with a solid understanding of automation frameworks, test strategy and software quality practices.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts using JavaScript/TypeScript.

- Build and maintain scalable automation frameworks for web and API testing.

- Develop automated UI test cases using Playwright, Cypress, Puppeteer or WebdriverIO.

- Perform API testing including REST APIs, request/response validation, status codes, authentication and data validation.

- Create and maintain reusable test automation components and utilities.

- Develop and execute functional, regression, integration and end-to-end automated test suites.

- Identify, analyze and troubleshoot test failures and defects.

- Collaborate closely with developers, product managers and QA engineers throughout the SDLC.

- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing practices.

- Review test results, identify automation gaps and improve test coverage.

- Participate in test planning, estimation, test case reviews and defect triaging.

- Maintain clear documentation of automation frameworks, test scenarios and execution results.

- Contribute to improving overall test automation strategy, reliability and execution efficiency.

Required Skills:

- Strong programming experience in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.

- Hands-on experience in Test Automation.

- Strong experience with Playwright and/or Cypress.

- Good understanding of API Testing and REST APIs.

- Experience with automation/test frameworks such as Jest, Mocha and Chai.

- Exposure to Puppeteer and/or WebdriverIO is an advantage.

- Good understanding of web application testing and browser automation.

- Experience creating reusable and maintainable automation scripts.

- Understanding of CI/CD and continuous testing concepts.

- Good knowledge of software testing methodologies, defect lifecycle and QA processes.

- Strong analytical and debugging skills.

Preferred / Good To Have:

- Experience testing modern web applications and SaaS/product platforms.

- Experience with Git/GitHub/GitLab or similar version-control systems.

- Exposure to Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or other CI/CD tools.

- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development environments.

- Experience with test reporting and automation dashboards.

- Understanding of cross-browser and parallel test execution.
