About the Role :

We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on Java Application Architect with strong experience in building scalable web-based products in fast-paced product organizations, preferably Series A/B funded startups.

This is an Individual Contributor (IC) role where the candidate will drive architecture decisions, technology roadmap, platform scalability, and engineering best practices while remaining deeply involved in coding and system design.

The ideal candidate should have evolved organically from a Software Developer / Senior Engineer / Technical Lead / Architect, with strong expertise in distributed systems and modern cloud-native architectures.

Key Responsibilities :

- Define and drive application architecture for large-scale distributed platforms

- Design scalable, secure, and high-performing microservices-based systems

- Create architecture roadmap, technical artifacts, architecture documentation, and API specifications

- Lead architectural discussions and provide technical direction to engineering teams

- Work closely with Product, Engineering, DevOps, and Business stakeholders

- Build event-driven and asynchronous systems using Kafka or similar messaging platforms

- Ensure system scalability, reliability, observability, and fault tolerance

- Participate actively in hands-on coding, code reviews, debugging, and technical problem-solving

- Define engineering standards, reusable frameworks, and best practices

- Drive cloud-native development and modernization initiatives

Required Skills & Experience :

- 9-14 years of total software engineering experience

- 3-5 years of experience as an Application Architect / Solution Architect

- Strong hands-on coding expertise in Java and Spring ecosystem

- Experience working in Series A / Series B funded product startups is mandatory

- Strong product engineering mindset with experience building platforms from scratch

- Experience in designing highly scalable distributed systems

- Expertise in event-driven architecture and asynchronous communication models

- Strong experience with :

1. Java

2. Spring Boot / Spring Cloud

3. Kafka

4. Microservices Architecture

5. REST APIs

6. Cloud Platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)

7. Docker / Kubernetes

- Experience creating architecture documents, HLDs, LLDs, and API contracts/specifications

- Strong understanding of system design, scalability, performance optimization, and resiliency patterns

Preferred Background :

- Candidates from product-based startups or SaaS organizations preferred

- Prior experience in fintech, logistics-tech, health-tech, ecommerce, or high-transaction platforms is a plus

- Strong ownership mindset with ability to work in fast-moving environments

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
