Job Summary :

The Test Manager is responsible for defining, planning, and managing the overall testing strategy for projects or product lines.

This role ensures high-quality deliverables through effective test design, test execution, resource planning, defect management, and continuous improvement of testing processes.

The Test Manager collaborates with development, product, and operations teams to ensure that the final product meets customer expectations, compliance standards, and internal quality targets.

Key Responsibilities :

- Define end-to-end testing strategies including functional, regression, performance, automation, and user acceptance testing.

- Create and maintain Test Plans, Test Scopes, Test Schedules, and Test Approaches for multiple projects.

- Identify testing requirements and ensure traceability from requirements to test cases.

- Estimate testing efforts, resources, and timelines using industry-standard estimation models.

- Lead, mentor, and manage test engineers, automation engineers, and QA analysts.

- Allocate resources across multiple projects and monitor workload distribution.

- Conduct performance evaluations, skill assessments, and training sessions for team growth.

- Oversee test execution for manual and automated test cycles.

- Ensure accuracy and completeness of test cases, test scripts, and test data.

- Track test progress, test coverage, and defect metrics.

- Review and approve test deliverables such as Test Cases, Test Reports, and Release Readiness Reports.

- Lead defect triage meetings with development, product, and business teams.

- Ensure defects are logged, prioritized, tracked, and closed effectively.

- Analyze root causes of defects and propose preventive actions.

- Define automation strategy and select automation testing frameworks/tools.

- Oversee development and maintenance of automation scripts.

- Identify areas for automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual overhead.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in testing processes and methodologies.

- Implement best practices such as shift-left testing, risk-based testing, and CI/CD test integration.

- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO, CMMI, IATF 16949 (if relevant), or regulatory norms (FDA, GDPR, etc.

- Communicate testing status, risks, and issues to project managers, product owners, and senior leadership.

- Collaborate closely with development, business analysts, DevOps, and release managers.

- Support customer audits, client presentations, and release sign-offs.

- Prepare daily/weekly test execution reports, defect metrics, and quality dashboards.

- Document lessons learned, quality improvements, and testing retrospectives.

- Maintain updated test-related documentation in repositories.

Required Skills & Competencies :

Technical Skills :

- Strong knowledge of SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum, and DevOps practices.

- Expertise in test planning, test design, and test execution.

- Experience with automation tools (i.e. Selenium, Appium, JMeter, Postman).

- Familiarity with test management tools (i.e. JIRA, ALM, Azure DevOps, TestRail).

- Understanding of performance, security, and API testing.

- Ability to read and understand code (Java, Python, C#, or relevant languages) - optional but advantageous
