Job Description : ISP Tuning Engineer (Jetson Orin / Edge AI Cameras)
About the Role :
We are looking for an ISP Tuning Engineer to support image quality optimization and camera
performance tuning on edge AI platforms, particularly NVIDIA Jetson Orin. This role is ideal for engineers with hands-on experience in ISP tuning, image qualityevaluation, and camera validation, who can work closely with senior experts to deliver production-ready camera performance across real-world deployments.
Key Responsibilities :
ISP Tuning & Image Quality Optimization :
- Assist in tuning ISP pipelines (AE, AWB, noise reduction, sharpness, contrast, color) for camera systems deployed on edge devices
- Work with senior experts to adapt and optimize ISP tuning for Jetson Orin-based platforms
- Debug ISP pipelines and identify image artifacts (noise, color shifts, distortion, HDR issues)
- Support calibration of camera modules across varied lighting and environmental conditions
Image Quality Evaluation :
- Perform subjective and objective image quality (IQ) evaluation across use cases (daylight, low-light, IR)
- Use tools like Imatest to analyze :
1. Color accuracy, dynamic range, SNR
2. Sharpness, distortion, uniformity
3. Lens artifacts (flare, chromatic aberration)
- Execute benchmarking against reference devices and competitors
Testing & Validation :
- Design and execute IQ validation workflows for different camera systems
- Generate detailed IQ reports with findings, root cause analysis, and recommendations
- Support lab-based and real-world testing using controlled lighting setups
Cross-Functional Collaboration :
- Work with :
1. Hardware teams (sensor/lens selection, IR filters, optics)
2. Software teams (camera pipeline integration)
3. ML teams (camera performance impact on downstream models)
- Track issues and improvements using tools like Jira
Required Qualifications :
- 2 to 5 years of experience in :
1. ISP tuning / image quality engineering
2. Camera validation and testing
- Hands-on experience with :
1. ISP parameter tuning (AE, AWB, LSC, noise reduction, etc.)
2. Image quality tools (e.g., Imatest, ImageJ, similar)
- Familiarity with :
1. Image quality test charts (ISO 12233, Macbeth Color Checker, etc.)
2. Camera lab setups and lighting environments
- Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with Ambarella or similar ISP platforms
- Exposure to :
1. Automotive cameras (ADAS/DMS)
2. Surveillance or consumer camera systems
- Familiarity with Jetson Orin or NVIDIA camera stack (nice to have, not required)
- Understanding of HDR pipelines (e.g., DOL-HDR)
- Experience working with multi-camera or edge AI systems
What Success Looks Like :
- Ability to independently execute ISP tuning tasks with expert guidance
- Improved image quality across diverse real-world conditions
- Reliable camera performance for downstream AI/ML systems
- High-quality validation reports and clear communication with stakeholders
