Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced iSeries Engineer responsible for maintaining the availability, security, and recoverability of IBM i (AS400) systems. This role focuses on backup, restore, PTF management, and IPL execution, ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to operational SLAs.

The candidate will collaborate closely with application, storage, and infrastructure teams to support production environments and disaster recovery readiness.

Key Responsibilities :

- Manage and monitor system, library, and object-level backups, ensuring data integrity and compliance

- Perform restore operations and disaster recovery (DR) activities, including DR drills and validation testing

- Execute and support planned and unplanned IPLs, ensuring minimal downtime and resolving startup issues

- Apply and manage PTFs (Program Temporary Fixes), including testing and deployment coordination

- Perform system administration tasks, including job management, subsystem monitoring, and performance tuning

- Monitor system health, storage, and tape operations

- Troubleshoot system, backup/restore, and performance issues

- Support incident, change, and problem management processes aligned with ITIL standards

- Maintain documentation for audit, compliance, and operational procedures

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for issue resolution and system improvements

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in IBM i (AS400 / iSeries) production support

- Strong expertise in Backup & Restore operations (BRMS preferred)

- Experience in PTF management and IPL execution (planned/unplanned)

- Solid knowledge of IBM i system administration

- Job and workload management

- Subsystem monitoring

- Storage and tape management

- Basic performance tuning

- Experience in Disaster Recovery (DR) planning, testing, and execution

- Knowledge of PKI and X.509 Digital Certificate implementation/support

- Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management)

- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

- Ability to provide on-call / shift-based production support

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with BRMS (Backup, Recovery and Media Services)

- Exposure to security management and compliance standards

- Experience working in enterprise production environments

- Strong documentation and audit readiness skills

- Ability to collaborate with global teams and stakeholders
