Intellias - Senior Automation Tester - Cypress/Playwright Testing

About the Role :

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior / Expert Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Shopping Engineering & Operations team. In this role, you will play a key part in bringing new product features to life while ensuring the continued quality, reliability, and performance of our systems. You will contribute to our transition toward modern agile practices, automation-focused quality strategies, and cloud-native architectures.

As an Expert QA Engineer, you will work autonomously within a cross-functional team, collaborate with engineers and product stakeholders, and drive the adoption of advanced testing methodologies. You will take ownership of both manual and automated testing processes, continuously improving quality standards across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities :

- Drive end-to-end quality assurance practices across feature development and product releases.

- Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using modern frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber, Allure).

- Perform manual and automated testing across various layers (unit, integration, API, E2E, non-functional).

- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate testing practices into CI/CD pipelines.

- Develop and maintain test frameworks and tools, primarily using Java (and additional languages when needed).

- Participate in architectural discussions related to microservices, event-driven systems, and cloud-native platforms.

- Conduct API testing for REST-based services and ensure robust contract and integration testing.

- Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot quality issues using tools such as Kibana, Grafana, Jenkins, and TeamCity.

- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, coding practices, and product reliability.

- Communicate findings and quality insights effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Participate in on-call rotations (approximately 1 week every 8 weeks) to support production systems.

Required Qualifications :

- 6+ years of professional experience in software testing (manual and automated).

- Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.

- Proven experience with modern test automation frameworks and reporting tools (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber, Allure).

- Extensive experience in Java-based test development and strong grasp of OOP concepts.

- Hands-on experience with testing approaches across the entire testing pyramid (unit ? E2E) within CI/CD.

- Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring/observability tools (Jenkins, TeamCity, Kibana, Grafana, etc.).

- Proficiency in API testing and working with REST APIs.

- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

- Understanding of modern architectural concepts (microservices, event-driven architecture).

- Strong communication skills in English.

- Willingness to participate in on-call duty rotation.

Nice to Have :

- Good knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.

- Experience writing clean code in multiple languages (Java, Python, Kotlin, JavaScript/TypeScript).

- Prior experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).

- Experience with mobile / app test automation tools.
