Our mission is to enhance decision-making and positively impact patient lives by unifying healthcare and technology excellence.
About the Role :
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Performance Engineer Lead to design, implement, and optimize performance testing frameworks across our healthcare applications and platforms.
As a lead in the Software Development Engineering in Test (SDET) team, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and reliability of mission-critical systems by defining performance testing strategies, identifying bottlenecks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performing, robust applications.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the end-to-end performance engineering strategy for enterprise healthcare applications.
- Design, develop, and maintain performance testing frameworks and reusable test components.
- Plan and execute performance, load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests to assess system behavior under various conditions.
- Collaborate with development, DevOps, and QA teams to identify performance bottlenecks, tune application performance, and optimize infrastructure usage.
- Analyze application metrics, logs, and traces to pinpoint root causes of latency or resource inefficiencies.
- Define performance benchmarks, KPIs, and SLAs aligned with business and system goals.
- Develop and maintain performance test scripts using industry-standard tools (LoadRunner, JMeter, Gatling, k6, or equivalent).
- Work closely with developers to provide early performance feedback during the design and development stages.
- Contribute to capacity planning, infrastructure sizing, and performance tuning at application, middleware, and database levels.
- Create comprehensive test reports and dashboards, providing insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers, establish performance testing best practices, and drive a culture of performance awareness across teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
- 5+ years of experience in performance engineering or performance testing for enterprise-scale applications.
- Strong expertise in tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, BlazeMeter, or k6.
- Hands-on experience with profiling and monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK Stack).
- Solid understanding of software performance metrics, including response times, throughput, resource utilization, and scalability patterns.
- Experience in back-end performance testing, especially for REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-based systems.
- Proficiency in Java, Python, or C# for developing performance test scripts or integrating test frameworks.
- Knowledge of SQL and ability to analyze database performance (indexes, query plans, transactions).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating performance tests into automated workflows using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
- Strong foundation in Computer Science fundamentals, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), and software architecture principles.
- Proven experience in identifying memory leaks, thread contention, and network latency issues.
- Ability to interpret system metrics from cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and recommend performance optimizations.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with attention to detail and accountability for results.
Preferred / Nice to Have :
- Prior experience working in healthcare technology, EMR/EHR systems, or HIPAA-compliant environments.
- Exposure to containerized and distributed systems (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with API gateways, message queues, and event-driven architectures.
- Knowledge of Performance Engineering at Scale for microservices and multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
- Experience in using cloud monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Stackdriver, or Azure Monitor.
- Certifications in Performance Testing, Cloud Architecture, or DevOps are advantageous.
Education :
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong academic foundation in software development, data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Additional certifications in performance testing tools or cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) are a plus.
