Job Summary :
We are looking for a Mainframe Developer with 48 years of strong experience in COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and JCL to support, enhance, and maintain large-scale enterprise mainframe applications.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience developing and supporting both batch and online (CICS) systems, along with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Insurance (BFSI) environments is preferred, with exposure to mission-critical, high-availability systems considered a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, develop, modify, and support Mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and JCL.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain online (CICS) and batch programs.
- Perform DB2 SQL coding, performance tuning, and data analysis.
- Create and maintain JCL jobs, utilities, and scheduling controls.
- Debug and resolve production issues using tools such as File-Aid, Abend-Aid, or similar.
- Participate in unit testing, system testing, UAT support, and production deployments.
- Ensure compliance with SDLC processes, coding standards, and quality guidelines.
- Work closely with business analysts, QA, and infrastructure teams to deliver solutions.
- Provide on-call or production support as required.
Mandatory Skills & Experience :
- 4 to 8 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe application development.
- Strong proficiency in: COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, JCL.
- Solid understanding of batch and online processing concepts.
- Experience writing and tuning DB2 SQL queries.
- Good knowledge of file handling, datasets, and utilities.
- Familiarity with change and release management processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills :
- Experience in Banking / Financial Services / Insurance (BFSI) domain.
- Exposure to core banking systems, payment processing, lending, or policy systems.
- Experience with Agile / Scrum methodologies.
- Knowledge of Endevor, Changeman, or similar version control tools.
- Exposure to Mainframe modernization or migration initiatives is a plus
