Job Title : Engineering Manager

Location : Gurgaon

About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager with a strong background in the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) to lead and mentor a team of software engineers. In this role, you will be responsible for driving technical excellence, delivering scalable and robust products, and collaborating cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders.

You will balance hands-on coding (if required) with strategic leadership, ensuring high-quality deliverables, timely execution, and a culture of innovation within your team.

Key Responsibilities :

Leadership & Team Management :

- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of MERN stack developers (frontend, backend, and full-stack engineers).

- Conduct regular 1 : 1s, performance reviews, and help team members with career growth.

- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance engineering culture.

Technical Ownership :

- Oversee the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable web applications using the MERN stack.

- Make key technical decisions on system design, code quality, and tech debt management.

- Review code, ensure adherence to best practices, and maintain coding standards.

Delivery & Execution :

- Collaborate with product and business teams to translate requirements into technical deliverables.

- Plan, prioritize, and manage sprint cycles, ensuring timely delivery of features.

- Drive process improvements for CI/CD, testing, and release management.

Stakeholder Collaboration :

- Act as the technical point of contact for product managers, designers, and leadership teams.

- Provide clear communication on project status, risks, and dependencies.

Innovation & Best Practices

- Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in JavaScript ecosystem.

- Encourage experimentation and innovation within the team.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- Education : Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience :

- 8+ years of professional software development experience.

- 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership or people management role.

Technical Expertise :

- Deep hands-on experience with MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js.

- Strong understanding of microservices architecture, REST APIs, GraphQL, and cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure).

- Proficiency in version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices.

- Solid understanding of system design, scalability, performance optimization, and security.

Leadership Skills :

- Proven ability to mentor and coach engineers.

- Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice-to-Have :

- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

- Exposure to serverless architecture.

- Experience scaling engineering teams in a startup or hyper-growth environment.

- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
