Role Overview :

We are seeking a Senior Java Backend Engineer with extensive experience in designing and developing enterprise-grade backend systems.

The candidate will be responsible for technical design, microservices architecture, performance optimization, integration strategies, and mentoring engineers while ensuring that applications meet scalability, security, and reliability requirements.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead the design and development of scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.

- Define service boundaries and implement robust microservices architectures.

- Develop API standards, integration patterns, error-handling strategies, and versioning approaches.

- Translate business and product requirements into technical designs and implementation plans.

- Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize application code, database queries, and service communication.

- Design data models and optimize relational and NoSQL database access patterns.

- Implement resilient distributed systems using appropriate retry, timeout, circuit-breaker, and fault-tolerance mechanisms.

- Evaluate and implement messaging and event-driven architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.

- Ensure adherence to secure coding standards, authentication and authorization practices, and application security requirements.

- Lead code reviews and establish engineering standards, testing practices, and development guidelines.

- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide technical guidance during implementation.

- Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams to deliver production-ready solutions.

- Drive CI/CD improvements, observability, production readiness, incident resolution, and technical debt reduction.

- Contribute to cloud-native application design, containerization, and deployment strategies.

Required Skills :

- Advanced proficiency in Java, including concurrency, multithreading, JVM fundamentals, memory management, and performance tuning.

- Strong expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Security, and Spring Data.

- Extensive experience designing and implementing distributed systems and microservices.

- Strong understanding of REST APIs, API gateways, asynchronous processing, and service-to-service communication.

- Experience with Kafka or equivalent messaging platforms.

- Strong database skills across SQL and NoSQL systems, including indexing, query tuning, and data consistency.

- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tooling.

- Experience with cloud services on AWS, Azure, or GCP.

- Strong knowledge of software architecture principles, design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean code practices.

- Experience with automated testing, integration testing, performance testing, and production troubleshooting.

- Proficiency with monitoring, logging, tracing, and application observability tools.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with domain-driven design, event-driven architecture, and distributed transaction patterns.

- Exposure to Redis, Elasticsearch, and distributed caching.

- Knowledge of infrastructure automation and cloud-native deployment practices.

- Experience driving engineering improvements across multiple services or teams.
