About the Role :
We are seeking an experienced IBM Guardium Systems Administrator to support database security operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support activities. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with IBM Guardium (or Imperva), agent management, STAP/GIM installations, performance tuning, and incident resolution. This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, 247 operational environment and independently manage critical situations.
Experience Required :
- 4 to 7 years of experience in Database Security, IBM Guardium Administration, or Production Support for security monitoring platforms.
- Hands-on experience with IBM Guardium STAP, GIM, ATAP, and appliance troubleshooting is essential.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide production support for IBM Guardium or Imperva database security tools.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents related to Guardium agents, STAP modules, GIM components, appliances, and ATAP issues.
- Perform Guardium infrastructure patching, version upgrades, and hotfix deployments.
- Manage inactive agents, connectivity issues, and performance-related problems.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot GIM (Guardium Installation Manager), STAP (Software Tap), and ATAP components.
- Ensure smooth onboarding of database systems for logging, monitoring, and compliance needs.
- Manage and maintain Guardium policies, groups, collectors, and aggregators.
- Conduct system performance analysis to troubleshoot slowness, reporting issues, and database activity monitoring problems.
- Monitor resource utilization and optimize Guardium appliance performance.
- Implement change requests as per ITIL processes and maintain accurate JIRA/documentation updates.
- Work independently during critical incidents to ensure timely resolution and minimal business impact.
- Provide root-cause analysis, workarounds, and permanent corrective actions as needed.
- Analyze stakeholder requirements for logging & monitoring, compliance tracking, and database activity monitoring.
- Propose and implement Guardium configurations that meet internal and regulatory security requirements.
- Support audits and ensure compliance with internal security baselines.
Required Skills & Competencies :
- Strong hands-on knowledge of IBM Guardium components : STAP, GIM, ATAP, collectors, aggregators, and reporting.
- Good understanding of Linux OS, including administration, logs, processes, and troubleshooting.
- Scripting skills in Python, Shell, or Bash for automation and operational tasks.
- Knowledge of database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, DB2, etc.) and basic SQL.
- Experience in supporting Unix/Windows environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for debugging agent and appliance issues.
- Ability to work independently during crisis situations with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes (Change, Incident, Problem Management).
- Prior experience with Imperva SecureSphere.
- Experience with third-party security tools and integrations.
- Knowledge of network security fundamentals, TLS certificates, firewall basics.
- Exposure to automation for Guardium operations.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to collaborate with database teams, security teams, and other technical stakeholders.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing workloads in a 247 environment.
- High ownership, accountability, and customer-centric approach.
