About the Role :
We are seeking a highly skilled Head End System (HES) Expert to join our team for a large-scale Smart Meter project.
In this role, you will be the technical anchor for the HES platform, acting as the critical link between field-deployed smart meters and our central utility systems.
You will lead the solution design, architecture, and end-to-end integration processes required to manage two-way data communication, remote commands, and real-time grid alerts.
Key Responsibilities :
1. HES Solution Architecture :
- Implementation of robust, scalable HES architectures, establishing clear High-Level (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD).
2. Two-Way Communication Management :
- Configure and manage the automated collection of consumption, voltage, and power quality data over diverse communication networks (RF, Cellular 4G/5G, PLC).
3. Remote Control Execution :
- Set up and oversee remote operations, including connection/disconnection commands, firmware upgrades (OTA), and tariff/time-of-use (ToU) updates to field meters.
4. Alert & Tamper Configuration :
- Program and monitor real-time event rules for tamper detection, power-theft alerts, and outage management ("last gasp" signals).
5. AMI System Integration :
- Build secure data bridges and APIs between the HES and the Meter Data Management System (MDMS) to ensure clean data flow into utility billing systems.
6. Network Troubleshooting :
- Monitor network health and communication success rates, proactively diagnosing and resolving connectivity drops or communication bottlenecks across the meter fleet.
Required Experience & Skills :
- Industry Experience : Minimum of 5+ years of core experience in the power distribution sector.
- Core Technical Expertise : Proven track record in supervising, designing, or implementing Head End Systems (HES).
- Protocols & Standards : Deep understanding of smart meter communication protocols (e.g., DLMS/COSEM).
- Preferred Advantage : Prior hands-on experience integrating HES with leading MDM systems or working with global smart metering communication standards.
Required Qualifications & Education :
- Degree : Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or Computer Applications from a recognized university. B.Tech / B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Information Technology.
