POSITION OVERVIEW :

The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for providing deep technical expertise, guidance, and advisory support for designing, implementing, and managing solutions on GCP. This role acts as a trusted advisor for cloud initiatives, supporting architects, engineers, and clients in delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing GCP solutions.

The SME will collaborate with stakeholders, cloud teams, and project managers to ensure GCP environments meet business, operational, and security objectives.

Key Responsibilities :

- Serve as the GCP subject matter expert for cloud projects and initiatives

- Provide guidance on best practices for architecture, networking, security, and governance in GCP

- Advise teams on cloud strategy, adoption, and migration planning

- Lead technical workshops, design sessions, and knowledge transfer sessions

- Troubleshoot complex GCP issues and provide expert solutions

- Evaluate and recommend GCP services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, App Engine, GKE)

- Provide guidance on hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity (Cloud VPN, Interconnect, Cloud Router)

- Support high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and scalability designs

- Advise on automation using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Deployment Manager)

- Provide guidance on GCP security best practices, including IAM, service accounts, and organization policies

- Recommend encryption strategies, KMS usage, and secure key management

- Support compliance initiatives (ISO, SOC, GDPR, HIPAA) and governance frameworks

- Advise on Cloud Security Command Center, Security Health Analytics, and monitoring tools

- Provide guidance for CI/CD pipeline design and DevOps integration

- Support incident resolution and root cause analysis for complex issues

- Advise on cost optimization and FinOps practices in GCP

- Mentor and train team members on GCP technologies and practices

- Work with architects, engineers, project managers, and clients to align technical solutions with business objectives

- Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and POCs

- Act as a point of escalation for complex technical or strategic challenges

- Share knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned across the team

- Create and maintain technical documentation, reference architectures, and runbooks

- Define and promote GCP standards, patterns, and reusable solutions

- Stay updated on the latest GCP services, features, and cloud industry trends
