About the Role:

iPivot is looking for an experienced GIS Testing Analyst to validate Geographic Information System (GIS) applications, spatial data, geospatial services and mapping solutions. The candidate will be responsible for developing and executing test scenarios, validating spatial datasets, identifying defects and ensuring the accuracy, reliability and performance of GIS applications.

Key Responsibilities:

- Analyse business and technical requirements to prepare GIS test strategies, test plans and test cases.

- Perform functional, integration, regression and system testing of GIS applications.

- Validate spatial data, attribute tables, coordinate systems, projections, map layers and geospatial datasets.

- Test spatial operations such as buffering, overlay, intersection, proximity analysis and spatial queries.

- Validate GIS data imports, exports, transformations, geocoding and data migration processes.

- Test web-based GIS applications, interactive maps, geospatial APIs and map services.

- Verify the accuracy and consistency of spatial and non-spatial data across source and target systems.

- Execute SQL queries to validate backend data and investigate discrepancies.

- Identify, document, track and retest defects using appropriate defect-management tools.

- Perform regression and end-to-end testing after application enhancements and fixes.

- Support API testing and integration testing for GIS services and external systems.

- Assess application performance, usability and reliability for large geospatial datasets.

- Collaborate with GIS developers, data engineers, business analysts and project stakeholders to resolve defects.

- Prepare test execution reports, defect summaries and quality documentation.

Required Skills:

- Strong experience in GIS application testing and quality assurance.

- Understanding of GIS concepts, spatial data models and geospatial data formats.

- Experience validating spatial and attribute data.

- Knowledge of coordinate reference systems, map projections and spatial operations.

- Experience with SQL and backend data validation.

- Understanding of functional, integration, regression and system testing.

- Experience with test-case preparation, defect tracking and test reporting.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

- Exposure to ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.

- Experience with geospatial web services and APIs, including WMS, WFS or REST-based GIS services.

- Knowledge of Python-based test automation or GIS data validation.

- Experience with automated testing tools and CI/CD testing workflows.

- Familiarity with spatial databases such as PostGIS or Oracle Spatial.

- Experience testing enterprise-scale geospatial applications and data pipelines.

Candidate Profile:

- 8 - 15 years of experience.

- Strong hands-on experience in GIS testing, spatial data validation and defect management.

- Ability to independently plan and execute testing activities for complex GIS applications.

- Strong documentation, analytical and stakeholder-coordination skills.
