Role Overview :
We are seeking an accomplished and hands-on AVP Engineering to lead, mentor, and scale our software engineering organization.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, proven experience building AI-driven products with LLMs, and a strong MERN stack foundation. This role blends technical leadership with people management and strategic execution to build high-performing teams and scalable systems that fuel rapid innovation and growth.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Leadership & Team Building :
- Build, mentor, and retain world-class engineering talent across multiple teams or pods.
- Foster a high-performance culture centered around innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Coach engineering managers and tech leads to scale their teams effectively and deliver high-impact outcomes.
2. Scale & Execution :
- Lead engineering strategy for scalable, resilient, and high-availability systems.
- Define and optimize engineering processes for velocity, quality, and operational excellence.
- Manage and prioritize multiple initiatives across product and platform domains.
3. Technology & Architecture :
- Provide technical leadership on MERN-based architectures and modern cloud-native systems.
- Drive innovation through LLM-powered applications, AI integrations, and intelligent automation.
- Review and guide architecture decisions, code quality, performance, and security best practices.
- Ensure a robust engineering foundation with CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure scalability.
4. Cross-functional Collaboration :
- Partner closely with Product, Design, and Data teams to translate business goals into engineering outcomes.
- Collaborate with AI research and product teams to implement and operationalize LLM-driven features.
- Communicate technical strategy, progress, and risks to executive stakeholders.
5. Culture & Process :
- Champion engineering excellence, knowledge sharing, and innovation.
- Establish frameworks for growth, learning, and technical leadership within teams.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Qualifications :
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 35 years in engineering leadership roles (managing managers or multiple teams).
- Proven experience in building and scaling engineering teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Strong technical background in MERN stack and modern web application architectures.
- Hands-on experience working with LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Vertex AI, or similar platforms)- understanding of model integration, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning workflows.
- Deployment of your own model.
- Should have worked with Python + FastAPI - Pytorch.
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems, micro-services , and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
- Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have :
- Experience in setting up platform teams or developer productivity initiatives.
- Exposure to MLOps or productionizing AI models.
