Quality Engineer (QE) - Video Editing Application

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer (QE) to join our team developing cutting-edge video editing solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, performance, and usability of our video editing application across multiple platforms. This role requires a strong understanding of software testing methodologies, multimedia technologies, and video editing workflows to deliver an exceptional user experience.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Testing

Design, develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.

Validate video editing features including trimming, splitting, transitions, effects, filters, overlays, keyframing, color correction, audio synchronization, and export functionality.

Verify end-to-end user workflows across different editing scenarios.

Conduct smoke, sanity, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing.

Multimedia Validation

Test support for various video and audio formats, codecs, frame rates, resolutions, and bitrates.

Validate import, editing, preview, rendering, and export processes for multimedia content.

Verify compatibility with formats such as MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WEBM, HEVC (H.265), AVC (H.264), ProRes, AAC, WAV, and others.

Ensure proper handling of corrupted, unsupported, or large media files.

Performance & Stability Testing

Evaluate application performance when handling large projects and high-resolution media (4K, 8K, HDR).

Monitor CPU, GPU, memory, disk, and network utilization during editing and rendering operations.

Identify performance bottlenecks, rendering delays, crashes, freezes, and memory leaks.

Conduct stress, load, endurance, and scalability testing.

Cross-Platform & Compatibility Testing

Validate application behavior across Windows, macOS, and cloud-based environments where applicable.

Test compatibility across different hardware configurations, graphics cards, processors, and operating system versions.

Verify support for multiple display resolutions and monitor configurations.

Automation Testing

Develop and maintain automated test suites for functional and regression testing.

Create automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or other relevant technologies.

Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

Analyze automation results and maintain test stability.

Defect Management

Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects using bug-tracking tools.

Perform root cause analysis and collaborate with developers to resolve issues efficiently.

Validate bug fixes and conduct impact analysis for related features.

Provide detailed logs, screenshots, videos, and reproduction steps.

Collaboration & Process Improvement

Work closely with Product Managers, Developers, UX Designers, and DevOps teams throughout the development lifecycle.

Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, requirement reviews, and retrospectives.

Contribute to quality standards, testing best practices, and process improvements.

Advocate for quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Proven experience as a Quality Engineer, Software Tester, QA Analyst, or similar role.

Experience testing video editing, multimedia, creative, or media-processing applications.

Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, QA processes, and defect lifecycle management.

Solid knowledge of video editing concepts and workflows.

Understanding of video/audio codecs, containers, encoding, transcoding, streaming, and rendering technologies.

Familiarity with multimedia file formats and standards.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in Agile environments.

Highly detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality products.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience with video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or similar applications.

Experience with GPU-accelerated rendering technologies.

Knowledge of FFmpeg, OpenCV, GStreamer, Media Foundation, AVFoundation, or similar multimedia frameworks.

Experience in API testing using Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent tools.

Familiarity with test automation frameworks and scripting languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#.

Experience working with cloud-based media processing pipelines.

Understanding of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.

Knowledge of accessibility, localization, and internationalization testing.
