Position Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled GCP DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team at Action Model (actionmodel.com). In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

You will ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems while working closely with development teams to automate CI/CD pipelines.

Additionally, this role involves managing VPS instances and building robust, multi-tenant architectures to support real-time applications and AI agent integrations.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on GCP.

- Provision and manage VPS instances across cloud providers and automate server provisioning using Terraform, Ansible, or cloud-init.

- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, utilising tools like GitHub Actions, to automate deployment, testing, and publishing processes.

- Architect and maintain multi-tenant systems where each customer receives an isolated VPS instance, alongside per-tenant configuration management.

- Manage containerisation and orchestration using Docker, Docker Compose, and Kubernetes (GKE).

- Build and maintain WebSocket servers and clients to handle real-time communication and multiplexing data streams.

- Ensure comprehensive logging, monitoring, and alerting of applications, including tracking resource usage such as CPU, RAM, and disk I/O.

- Implement strict security best practices, including SSH hardening, secrets management, and applying the principle of least privilege.

- Troubleshoot application performance, tracing system calls, and isolating issues across different infrastructure layers.

- Stay up to date with cloud computing trends, AI integration, and security compliance, including an awareness of prompt injection risks.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer with a focus on GCP and hands-on experience managing production VPS environments.

- Deep knowledge of Linux system administration, file permissions, and process daemonisation.

- Proficiency in primary stack languages, specifically Node.js and TypeScript.

- Strong understanding of networking, firewall configurations, and reverse proxies like Nginx or Caddy.

- Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager, or Ansible.

- A documentation-driven mindset with a habit of writing clear READMEs, config references, and runbooks.

- Ability to work independently, exploring and building in a self-directed, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer certification.

- Experience with serverless computing on GCP, such as Cloud Functions and Cloud Run.

- Familiarity with AI and machine learning services on GCP.

- Understanding of AI agents, including tool use, streaming LLM outputs to terminals, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

- Experience working with LLM provider APIs such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or Gemini.

- Experience with secondary languages like Rust, Python, or Go for scripting and performance-critical components.

- A track record of publishing cross-platform CLI tools to package managers like npm or Homebrew.
