First American - Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack Developer

Role : Senior Software Engineer I (SSE1)

Role Summary :

The Senior Software Engineer I is a hands-on project contributor who owns the design and delivery of significant features and small-to-medium projects. The role translates business needs into reliable, secure and maintainable solutions, makes sound technical decisions under ambiguity, and helps raise the team's engineering and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead features or small-to-medium projects from requirements and design through implementation, release and production support.

- Break down ambiguous requirements, evaluate technical trade-offs, and communicate assumptions, risks and recommendations clearly.

- Design, develop and review clean, secure, tested and maintainable software that meets First American engineering standards.

- Embed reliability, performance, security, observability, error handling and recovery considerations into solutions.

- Partner with product, quality, architecture, platform and other engineering teams to resolve dependencies and delivery blockers.

- Mentor engineers through code reviews, debugging, design discussions and knowledge sharing.

- Participate in on-call support, incident response and root-cause analysis, ensuring learnings result in durable improvements.

- Use AI-assisted development tools for design, coding, testing, documentation, debugging and analysis while rigorously validating outputs.

Technical Skills :

An ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with :

- .NET / ASP.NET Core, C# and RESTful APIs

- NodeJS, NestJS MVC, LiquidJS, JavaScript

- React, TypeScript and modern front-end development

- AWS services and cloud-native application development

- MS-SQL server and/or DynamoDB, including data modelling and performance considerations

- Microservices, distributed-system concepts and resilient integration patterns

- Git, CI/CD, automated testing, code review and secure development practices

- Agile/Scrum delivery using tools such as Jira

- AI coding tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot or Claude Code

- Observability platforms and experience defining SLAs/SLOs

Education and Experience :

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience may be considered.

- Typically 4+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including independent ownership of production features or projects.
