Job Description :

A Senior Database Administrator at Fanatics designs, implements, and maintains critical database systems which are reliable, scalable, performant, and secure.

They work across a wide range of database platforms, from on-prem SQL/Postgres/mySQL to cloud-based data warehouses and transactional data stores.

They collaborate with other teams to design solutions to meet their needs while also adhering to principals of automation, observability, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities :

- Administer enterprise MS SQL Server databases ensuring high performance, availability, and security.

- Perform query tuning, configuration optimization, and resource management.

- Manage and support other OLTP database systems (Postgres, MySQL).

- Maintain databases on Windows and Linux OS, including VMware and SAN-based storage environments.

- Implement and manage cloud-based platforms, including AWS, Redshift, and RDS.

- Automate infrastructure and deployments using PowerShell, Python, Git, and Terraform.

- Monitor databases using tools like Idera SQL Diagnostic Manager, Rubrik, Qlik Replicate, Tanium/SCCM, Big Panda, New Relic.

- Identify potential issues proactively and implement remediation strategies.

- Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to ensure reliable database solutions.

Required Skills :

- 10+ years of experience administering mission-critical enterprise databases (MS SQL mandatory).

- 5+ years experience with cloud-based data platforms and warehouse solutions.

- Hands-on experience with IaaS, monitoring, automation, and cloud deployments.

- Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.

- Other Databases : Postgres, MySQL

- Operating Systems : Windows Server, Linux

- Virtualization & Storage : VMware, SAN

- Scripting & Automation : PowerShell, Python, Git, Terraform

Education :

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
