Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager - Supply Chain Platform Modernization & Scale to lead the stabilization, modernization, and scaling of our mission-critical OMS + WMS platform supporting high-volume supply chain operations.

In this role, you will drive engineering excellence across production reliability, platform performance, architectural evolution, and team leadership. You will lead the transformation of legacy monolithic systems into scalable APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures while ensuring uninterrupted business operations.

This role requires strong backend engineering expertise, cloud-native architecture experience, and the ability to lead teams through complex production environments.

Key Responsibilities :

Platform Stability & Reliability :

- Own production stability, uptime, reliability, and performance of OMS and WMS systems.

- Drive incident reduction through root-cause analysis and preventive engineering practices.

- Improve transactional consistency, retry mechanisms, idempotency, and failure recovery.

- Establish robust incident management processes including runbooks, alerting, and on-call practices.

Architecture, Scaling & Modernization :

- Lead modernization of legacy monolithic systems using incremental transformation strategies.

- Define service boundaries and extract scalable domain-driven microservices.

- Build API-first architecture for order management, inventory, fulfillment, and carrier systems.

- Introduce event-driven workflows for scalability, resilience, and real-time operations.

- Ensure backward compatibility and safe deployment strategies during system evolution.

Supply Chain Systems at Scale :

- Design and scale systems handling high transaction throughput and peak order volumes.

- Oversee order lifecycle workflows, warehouse operations, shipment orchestration, and logistics integrations.

- Build systems supporting multi-warehouse and multi-region operations.

- Translate business and operational supply chain challenges into scalable technical solutions.

Cloud & Platform Engineering :

- Lead containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.

- Manage Kubernetes workloads on AWS EKS with autoscaling and optimization.

- Ensure AWS production readiness across RDS, networking, security, backups, and monitoring.

- Improve CI/CD pipelines for faster, safer, and more reliable releases.

People Leadership :

- Lead, mentor, and grow backend and platform engineering teams.

- Build strong ownership culture across services and production systems.

- Coach teams on architecture, observability, performance optimization, and engineering best practices.

- Foster accountability, continuous improvement, and pragmatic decision-making.

Stakeholder Management :

- Collaborate with Product, Supply Chain, Warehouse Operations, Logistics, and Business teams.

- Convert operational bottlenecks into engineering priorities.

- Communicate technical trade-offs, rollout plans, and risks effectively.

- Align engineering roadmaps with business growth objectives.

Must-Have Skills :

- Strong backend development experience in Python and Django

- Deep expertise in PostgreSQL performance tuning and scaling

- Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services, especially RDS and EKS

- Practical production experience with Docker and Kubernetes

- Strong API design and service decomposition expertise

- Experience building and managing microservices alongside monoliths

- Strong understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architecture

- Team leadership and mentoring experience

- Excellent stakeholder communication and technical decision-making ability

Good-to-Have Skills :

- Experience with OMS / WMS / Logistics / Fulfillment systems

- Observability and SRE practices (monitoring, tracing, alerting, incident response)

- Experience with domain-driven decomposition and strangler modernization patterns

- E-commerce platform experience

- Multi-warehouse architecture experience

- Carrier integrations and shipment orchestration exposure

Qualifications :

- 6- 10 years of software engineering experience

- Prior experience managing engineering teams or owning technical platforms

- Proven experience scaling high-throughput transactional systems

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field

- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset

- Ability to work in high-pressure production environments
