About the Role :

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our growing technology team. This role offers the opportunity to work on healthcare-focused products that impact lives at scale, while leading a talented group of backend, frontend, and full-stack engineers.

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for driving technical strategy, ensuring high-quality product delivery, and mentoring engineers to grow into strong leaders themselves. You will balance technical leadership, people management, and delivery ownership, while collaborating closely with Product Managers, Designers, and QA teams.

This is a critical leadership role where your decisions will directly shape the system architecture, scalability, performance, and compliance of healthcare applications serving enterprise-grade users.

Key Responsibilities :

Team Leadership & Mentoring :

- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of backend, frontend, and full-stack engineers.

- Conduct regular 1 : 1s, performance reviews, and support the career growth of team members.

- Build a high-performing engineering culture that values ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.

Project & Delivery Management :

- Drive execution of healthcare-focused projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.

- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and QA to translate business requirements into scalable and reliable technical solutions.

- Manage resource planning, hiring, and onboarding to scale the team effectively.

Technical Leadership :

- Guide the team in designing, developing, and deploying backend services and frontend applications.

- Own system architecture decisions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.

- Establish coding standards, best practices, and CI/CD processes across the engineering function.

- Ensure observability, monitoring (APM), and incident response practices are followed.

Healthcare Compliance & Standards :

- Ensure compliance with healthcare industry standards including HIPAA, HL7, FHIR, and data privacy/security regulations.

- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to integrate healthcare workflows seamlessly into the product.

Technical Skills :

- Backend : Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, Express.js / Fastify

- Frontend : React.js, Redux Toolkit, CSS/SCSS, Accessibility Standards (WCAG/ARIA)

- Databases : MongoDB, Redis, MySQL

- Messaging & Event-Driven Systems : Kafka, Amazon SQS, Redis Pub/Sub

- Cloud & DevOps : AWS (ECS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch), Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines

- Testing & Quality Assurance : Jest, Mocha, API testing frameworks, React Testing Library

- System Design & Architecture : Distributed systems, database design, event-driven patterns

Must-Have Qualifications :

- 510 years of professional experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a leadership/managerial role.

- Proven experience in leading cross-functional engineering teams (515 engineers) covering backend and frontend skill sets.

- Strong expertise in API-first development and large-scale system integration.

- Deep understanding of enterprise application development and healthcare workflows.

- Ability to balance hands-on technical guidance with people management and delivery ownership.

- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.

Good-to-Have Qualifications :

- Prior experience building healthcare, insurance, or supply chain applications.

- Experience in scaling engineering teams within a fast-paced startup or growth environment.

- Exposure to data-intensive applications, distributed systems, and real-time communication systems.
