Job Description:
The Engineering Manager will lead software engineering, quality assurance, and automation teams responsible for designing, developing, testing, and delivering high-quality software solutions. This role combines people leadership, technical strategy, and operational excellence to ensure timely delivery of scalable, secure, and innovative products. The Engineering Manager will drive engineering best practices, AI-powered automation initiatives, and continuous improvement while fostering a high-performing, collaborative engineering culture.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engineering Leadership:
- Lead and manage software development, quality engineering, and automation teams to deliver high-quality software products.
- Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality, performance, scalability, and security standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, development methodologies, and technical capabilities.
2. Technical Strategy & Delivery:
- Define technical roadmaps and execution plans aligned with business objectives.
- Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and resource allocation across multiple initiatives.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, DevOps, and Business stakeholders to prioritize and deliver strategic programs.
- Ensure successful delivery of cloud-based, web, and enterprise software applications.
3. Quality Engineering & AI Automation:
- Lead the organization's Quality Engineering strategy with a strong focus on automation-first practices.
- Drive implementation of AI-powered automation solutions to improve testing efficiency, productivity, and software quality.
- Establish and maintain scalable automation frameworks using:
1. Playwright
2. Cypress
3. AI-based Test Automation tools
- Define and monitor quality metrics, automation coverage, defect trends, and release readiness.
4. Process Excellence:
- Champion Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and Engineering Excellence practices.
- Continuously improve development and testing processes through automation and standardization.
- Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and organizational development standards.
- Promote engineering best practices including code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration.
5. People Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop high-performing engineering and QA teams.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, career development discussions, and one-on-one meetings.
- Define performance goals and development plans aligned with organizational objectives.
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and innovative engineering culture.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and talent retention initiatives.
6. Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, customers, vendors, and technology partners.
- Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and delivery milestones to leadership.
- Influence cross-functional teams to achieve business and engineering objectives.
7. Operational Management:
- Develop operational plans and manage engineering execution against agreed objectives.
- Optimize engineering resources, budgets, and capacity planning.
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure consistency, reliability, and continuous improvement across engineering deliverables.
Experience:
- 17+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Quality Engineering, or Technology Delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Expertise in:
1. Playwright
2. Cypress
3. Test Automation Frameworks
4. CI/CD Pipelines
5. Agile/Scrum methodologies
6. Cloud-based application development
- Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, microservices, and modern web technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and cross-functional teams.
