Engineering Manager

Job Description :

InCommon is hiring on behalf of an early-stage startup building and AI-native ecommerce technology stack.

About the Role :

Youll lead the engineering team at ShopOS, building AI-first systems that replace traditional tools (PIM, DAM, CMS) across the e-commerce stack. This is a hands-on leadership role expect to manage people, own architecture decisions, and drive execution alongside design, product, and GTM.

What Youll Do :

- Lead and scale a team of backend, frontend, AI, and DevOps engineers.

- Drive system architecture and technical direction.

- Ensure fast, reliable delivery of product features.

- Build and enforce engineering processes : testing, CI/CD, reviews.

- Coach and grow individual engineers.

- Work closely with product/design to align on roadmap and priorities.

- Own hiring, onboarding, and team structure.

- Balance individual contribution with org-level leadership.

What Were Looking For :

- 6+ years in software engineering, 2+ in engineering management.

- Experience leading 10 - 20 person teams.

- Strong grasp of distributed systems, cloud infra (AWS/GCP), data pipelines.

- Fluency in backend stacks (Node.js, Python), Postgres/Redis/Kafka.

- Ability to work in high-speed product loops.

- Experience with real-time systems, APIs (REST, GraphQL).

- Strong product sensibility and bias for action.

Bonus Points :

- Familiarity with Gen AI tools and LLMs.

- Experience scaling startup teams post-Seed.

- Built internal tools or dev-facing platforms.

- Exposure to ecommerce or operational workflows.

- Comfort with Docker, Kubernetes, observability tooling.
