Head of Engineering (Mobile Apps, AI/ML & Recommendations)

Role Overview :

We are seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead the design, development, and scaling of world-class mobile applications and AI/ML-driven recommendation platforms. This leader will set the engineering vision, build high-performing teams, and deliver exceptional user experiences through data-driven personalization and robust mobile architecture.

Key Responsibilities :

Engineering Leadership & Strategy :

- Define and execute the engineering roadmap aligned with business and product strategy.

- Establish best practices for architecture, scalability, security, reliability, and performance.

- Own delivery outcomes, technical quality, and operational excellence.

Mobile App Excellence (iOS & Android) :

- Lead development of consumer-grade mobile apps with millions of users.

- Drive performance optimization, app stability, CI/CD pipelines, and release management.

- Ensure superior UX through close collaboration with Product, Design, and QA.

AI/ML & Recommendation Systems :

- Lead design and deployment of recommendation engines (content, product, feed, search, ranking).

- Apply ML techniques such as collaborative filtering, embeddings, deep learning, and real-time inference.

- Partner with Data Science to translate models into scalable production systems.

Platform, Data & Cloud :

- Oversee backend platforms, APIs, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.

- Ensure systems are highly available, secure, and cost-efficient.

- Champion observability, monitoring, and incident management.

- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 1+ years in managing teams

- Proven track record of building and scaling high-quality mobile applications (iOS/Android).

- Strong experience delivering AI/ML-powered recommendation systems in production.

- Hands-on understanding of system design, microservices, APIs, and cloud-native architectures.

- Experience with modern ML stacks, data platforms, and real-time personalization.

- Strong people management and stakeholder communication skills.

Technical Skills (Preferred) :

- Mobile : Swift, Kotlin, Flutter/React Native (as applicable)

- Backend : Java, Kotlin, Python, Node.js

- AI/ML : TensorFlow/PyTorch, ML pipelines, model serving, experimentation

- Data : SQL/NoSQL, Spark, Kafka, feature stores

- Cloud & DevOps : AWS/GCP/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD
