Job Description : Engineering Manager

About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable ecommerce products. The ideal candidate has 10-15 years of hands-on engineering experience, a strong background in building products from scratch, and a passion for technology-driven product innovation. This role combines technical leadership with people management in a fast-paced product environment.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead and manage engineering teams responsible for building and scaling ecommerce platform products

- Own end-to-end product development, from architecture and design to deployment and optimization

- Drive technical decisions and system architecture using Java for backend services

- Oversee frontend development using React and Node.js to deliver high-quality user experiences

- Collaborate closely with Product Management, UX, and Business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions

- Establish and enforce engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, and CI/CD

- Mentor and grow engineers through regular feedback, coaching, and career development

- Ensure platform scalability, performance, security, and high availability

- Manage technical debt while balancing speed of delivery and long-term maintainability

- Lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies and promote a culture of continuous improvement

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership or management roles

- Strong backend expertise in Java, including RESTful APIs and microservices architecture

- Hands-on experience with React and Node.js for frontend and platform development

- Proven experience building products or platforms from scratch in a product-driven environment

- Solid understanding of cloud-native systems, distributed architectures, and databases

- Experience with Agile development methodologies and modern DevOps practices

- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills

- Ability to balance hands-on technical involvement with strategic leadership

Nice to Have :

- Experience with large-scale ecommerce platforms or high-traffic consumer applications

- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

- Experience with performance tuning, security, and system observability

- Background in scaling teams and engineering processes in a growing organization
