Role Overview :

We are seeking an experienced Drools Lead Developer to lead the design, development, integration, and implementation of enterprise-grade business rules solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on expertise in Drools, Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and cloud-native architectures, along with the ability to lead technical discussions and guide development teams.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable business rules solutions using Drools.

- Translate complex business requirements into robust, reusable, and maintainable rule-based solutions.

- Design and implement rule authoring frameworks, decision tables, rule flows, and governance models.

- Integrate Drools with Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native platforms.

- Provide technical leadership across solution design, code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation.

- Lead technical design discussions, solution reviews, and architecture alignment sessions.

- Mentor developers and establish best practices for rule development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

- Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, QA teams, DevOps teams, and delivery leadership.

- Develop and maintain integrations with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other enterprise databases.

- Support CI/CD implementation and automated deployment of rules and related services.

- Analyse and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks, and rule execution challenges.

- Contribute to event-driven architectures using Kafka and distributed-system patterns.

- Ensure adherence to coding standards, security practices, documentation standards, and governance processes.

Mandatory Skills :

- 8+ years of experience in software design and development.

- Strong hands-on experience with the Drools Rules Engine.

- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale business rules solutions.

- Strong knowledge of rule authoring, decision tables, rule flows, and rule execution.

- Experience integrating Drools with Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, microservices, and REST APIs.

- Good understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software architecture.

- Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or equivalent relational databases.

- Practical experience with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.

- Experience leading technical discussions and mentoring development teams.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.

- Ability to work closely with business teams to convert requirements into effective rule-based solutions.

Good-to-Have Skills :

- Experience with Camunda, DMN, and business process automation.

- Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP.

- Knowledge of Kafka, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems.

- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native deployments.

- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks.

- Experience in insurance, banking, payments, lending, or other regulated domains.

- Relevant Java, cloud, or enterprise architecture certifications.
