DriveX Mobility Private Limited
6 - 10 Years

Job Description

Job Title : Software Architect

Location : Bengaluru

About DriveX :

Drivex is India's leading pre-owned two-wheeler platform, backed by TVS Motor company. We are defining the used vehicle ecosystem by building transparency, efficiency and trust across retail, finance, and digital layers. Our goal is to make pre-owned mobility as seamless and dependable as buying new.

Role Overview :

The role You'll own the technical architecture across DriveX's product surface - the consumer-facing

applications (marketplace web and app, storefront, search, financing journeys) and the internal applications that run the business (intake, inspection, refurbishment, inventory, pricing, and store-operations tooling).

You set the technical direction, define the service boundaries and data flows that span these systems, and establish the engineering standards that several teams build against.

This is a senior, cross-cutting technical leadership role. You lead through influence rather than a reporting line - partnering with engineering leads, Product, Design, and Data Science as an equal, and being the person who can hold the whole architecture in their head and make the calls that keep it coherent as it scales.

We also need you to understand ML and AI well. We don't expect you to train models day-to-day, but

DriveX's edge increasingly depends on applied ML and AI - recommendations and search ranking, pricing and valuation, lead scoring, and AI-assisted internal tooling. You'll decide where these belong, how they integrate safely into the platform, and what data, serving, and monitoring foundations they need - and you'll be able to tell a sound ML integration from a fragile one.

It's a hands-on architect role - expect to spend roughly 30-40% of your time in code, design reviews, and PRs, and the rest on architecture, mentorship, and cross-functional work.

Key Responsibilities :

- Own the architecture end-to-end - across consumer and internal applications: service boundaries, data models, APIs, integration patterns, caching, queuing, and what not to build.

- Set technical direction and standards - establish the patterns, guardrails, and engineering bar that teams build against, and keep the overall system coherent as it grows.

- Make the hard calls - build vs. buy, monolith vs. service split, data ownership across consumer and internal systems, and how the customer-facing and ops-facing worlds share data without coupling badly.

- Guide DriveX's ML/AI direction - decide where ML and AI add real value, architect the data/feature/serving/monitoring foundations they depend on, and ensure they're integrated and operated responsibly.

- Lead through influence and mentorship - raise the design bar through review and example, mentor senior engineers and tech leads, and align engineering with Product and the business.

- Operate what you design - own the reliability, cost, and quality profile of the architecture on AWS.

What we're looking for :

Must-have :

- 6-10 years building production software, including real ownership of the architecture of non-trivial systems that real users and teams depend on.

- A track record designing across both consumer-facing and internal/operational applications - you've built systems people buy through and systems people run a business on.

- Strong systems and full-stack sense: API and data-model design, distributed systems and their failure modes, and fluency across a backend and frontend stack (we run Python and React), PostgreSQL, and AWS.

- Solid grasp of ML and AI - you understand modern ML and AI (including LLMs and their applications), can judge where they fit a product, can architect the data, feature, serving, and monitoring layers around them, and can read an ML integration and tell good from bad - even if model training isn't your day job.

- Technical leadership - you lead through influence, mentor strong engineers, write clearly, and bring engineering, product, and business stakeholders to a decision.

- Pragmatism and judgment - you know what to build now, what to defer, and what not to build at all.

Nice to have :

- Experience in consumer marketplaces, fintech, automotive, mobility, or retail-tech.

- Recommender / ranking systems, search relevance, or AI-assisted internal tooling.

- Familiarity with data platforms, feature stores, or MLOps practices.

- Familiarity with the Indian payments, KYC, or logistics ecosystem.
