APM Engineer Dynatrace & Development (UK Shift)

Role Overview :

We are seeking a technically strong professional with a balanced background in application development and performance monitoring. This role demands a 60% focus on development tasks and 40% on support and monitoring activitiesparticularly using Dynatrace and other APM (Application Performance Monitoring) tools.

The ideal candidate will bring a development-oriented mindset, strong scripting capabilities, and hands-on experience with Dynatrace administration and onboarding. Key Responsibilities :

- Design and implement development solutions focused on improving application performance and system observability.

- Automate repetitive monitoring, alerting, and diagnostic tasks using scripting and DevOps tools.

- Onboard complex applications to Dynatrace and manage full lifecycle monitoring.

- Administer, configure, and troubleshoot Dynatrace in cloud and hybrid environments.

- Analyze performance data, identify bottlenecks, and drive performance tuning initiatives.

- Proactively monitor SaaS and cloud-based applications for health, availability, and performance.

- Collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure end-to-end visibility and reliability.

- Establish and promote APM best practices across the organization.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 35 years of experience in a blended development and support role.

- 23 years of hands-on experience in Dynatrace administration and onboarding enterprise-scale applications.

- Strong development/scripting background (e.g., Python, Shell, PowerShell, or similar).

- Solid understanding of Dynatrace monitoring tools, integrations, and dashboards.

- Experience with performance data analysis and tuning of distributed systems.

- Familiarity with monitoring best practices in cloud or SaaS-based applications.

- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in production environments.

Nice to Have :

- Exposure to other APM tools like AppDynamics, New Relic, or Datadog.

- Experience working in Agile/SRE/DevOps teams.

- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
