About the Role:
We are looking for a highly motivated Automation Engineer with 14 years of hands-on experience to design, develop, and implement cutting-edge automation solutions in water treatment and distribution systems. This is a technically critical role aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, scalability, and system reliability in large-scale water infrastructure projects.
You will work at the intersection of industrial automation, control systems engineering, and software development, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, mechanical, and civil engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Automation System Design:
- Architect and implement end-to-end automation systems for water treatment plants and distribution networks using PLCs, SCADA, and HMI technologies.
Control Logic Development:
- Develop and program logic controllers (PLC/DCS) using platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider Electric.
SCADA & HMI Configuration:
- Design and configure SCADA (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, GE iFIX) and HMI interfaces for real-time monitoring, alarm management, and data visualization.
Testing & Commissioning:
- Conduct FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), I/O testing, and system integration of automation equipment.
Operational Support:
- Provide technical support and training to plant operators and maintenance staff on automated systems and troubleshoot issues to ensure minimal downtime.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure all systems comply with relevant water quality, safety, and automation standards (e.g., ISA, IEC 61131). Maintain technical documentation including control philosophies, electrical schematics, and user manuals.
Data Acquisition & Reporting:
- Develop data logging, analysis, and reporting mechanisms for performance optimization, predictive maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 12 years of experience in industrial automation, preferably in water treatment, utilities, or process automation industries.
Technical Skills & Competencies:
Programming Languages:
- Proficient in Python, C/C++, Java, or equivalent scripting languages for control and data applications.
Automation Platforms:
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley RSLogix, Schneider Modicon, etc.).
SCADA/HMI Tools:
- Working knowledge of Wonderware, WinCC, Ignition, GE iFIX, or similar platforms.
Field Instrumentation:
- Familiarity with actuators, sensors, VFDs, and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, OPC-UA, Ethernet/IP).
Version Control & DevOps:
- Exposure to version control tools like Git and CI/CD pipelines for automation projects is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work independently and within interdisciplinary teams.
