Role Overview / Job Summary :

We are hiring a highly organized and technically sound Defect and Release Manager for a high-priority legacy application modernization initiative.

This role is critical in managing defect workflows, ensuring release quality, and maintaining coordination across multiple agile teams.

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in defect triage, test reporting, and agile release management, with a proactive approach to communication and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities / Job Responsibilities :

- Manage the full defect lifecycle from identification to resolution across multiple QA and development streams

- Facilitate daily/weekly defect triage meetings with stakeholders and track resolution ownership

- Ensure timely Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementation of corrective/preventive actions

- Maintain a centralized defect repository with up-to-date resolution notes and traceability

- Coordinate and plan releases across environments (Dev, QA, UAT, Prod) with DevOps and Support teams

- Define and enforce release readiness criteria and maintain release calendars

- Create and share defect and release reports (daily, sprint-based, and ad hoc)

- Provide actionable insights into defect trends and release performance using KPIs and quality metrics

- Champion process improvements for defect prevention, early detection, and traceability

- Maintain thorough documentation of defect workflows, release plans, and RCA summaries

- Collaborate with the Test Manager and Business Analysts for end-to-end traceability of defects to test cases and requirements

- Support agile ceremonies, retrospectives, and lessons learned with quality and defect insights
