DeepTek.ai - Senior Data Scientist - Machine Learning

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our AI research and product development team in Pune. This role is critical to designing, developing, and deploying advanced machine learning and deep learning models for medical imaging and radiology decision-support systems.

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will work on complex, large-scale healthcare datasets, contribute to end-to-end AI solution development, and play a key role in translating cutting-edge research into production-ready, clinically validated AI models. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, clinical, and regulatory teams to deliver robust, explainable, and high-performing AI systems aligned with real-world radiology workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Data Science & Machine Learning

- Design, develop, and optimize machine learning and deep learning models for medical image analysis, including classification, detection, segmentation, and anomaly identification.

- Apply advanced statistical modeling, probabilistic methods, and optimization techniques to solve complex healthcare and imaging problems.

- Lead end-to-end model development pipelines, including data exploration, preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, validation, and performance benchmarking.

- Continuously evaluate and improve model accuracy, robustness, generalization, and explainability in clinical contexts.

Medical Imaging & AI Research

- Work with large-scale medical imaging datasets (DICOM, PACS-derived data) and unstructured clinical data.

- Develop and fine-tune computer vision models using CNNs, transformers, and hybrid architectures for radiology use cases.

- Stay current with the latest research in AI, deep learning, and medical imaging, and translate relevant advancements into product-ready solutions.

- Contribute to experimentation, research documentation, and potential publications or intellectual property initiatives.

Production & Deployment

- Collaborate with ML engineers and software teams to deploy models into production environments with scalable, reliable, and maintainable architectures.

- Implement model monitoring, performance tracking, drift detection, and retraining strategies.

- Optimize models for inference performance, memory efficiency, and deployment on cloud or on-premise systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership

- Lead and mentor junior data scientists, providing technical guidance and best practices in model development and experimentation.

- Work closely with product managers, radiologists, and clinical experts to align AI solutions with real-world diagnostic workflows.

- Communicate complex analytical results and model insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.

- Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and strategic planning for AI-driven product enhancements.

Required Qualifications

- Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.

- Strong hands-on experience in machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling.

- Proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis and model development.

- Extensive experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or equivalent.

- Solid understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and handling structured and unstructured datasets.

- Experience with model evaluation metrics, validation techniques, and performance optimization.

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently drive complex analytical initiatives.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional, hybrid work environment.
