Job Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DB2 Admin with expertise on the z/OS mainframe platform. With 5-10 years of experience, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of DB2 databases, including installation, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning, and security. You'll ensure high performance, availability, and integrity of critical DB2 systems, collaborating closely with application developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform comprehensive installation, configuration, and maintenance of DB2 databases specifically on the z/OS mainframe platform (v11/v12).

- Utilize DB2 tools such as DB2 Admin Tool, DB2 Catalog, and DB2 Command Line Processor for effective database management.

- Execute various DB2 utilities including REORG, LOAD, UNLOAD, COPY, and RECOVER to maintain database health and manage data.

- Apply in-depth knowledge of z/OS architecture, TSO/ISPF, JCL, and SDSF for system interaction and job management.

- Ensure database security by managing access control and integrating with RACF security.

- Conduct performance tuning and optimization of DB2 databases and SQL queries to ensure high efficiency and responsiveness.

- Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.

- Participate in capacity planning to forecast future database growth and resource requirements.

- Proactively monitor DB2 systems for performance bottlenecks, anomalies, and potential issues, providing timely problem resolution.

- Collaborate with application development teams for database design, schema changes, and query optimization.

- Develop and maintain clear documentation for database configurations, procedures, and operational guidelines.

- Familiarity with automation tools and mainframe scripting to streamline administrative tasks.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 5-10 years of experience in DB2 administration.

- Strong hands-on experience in DB2 for z/OS administration (v11/v12).

- Proficient in DB2 tools such as DB2 Admin Tool, DB2 Catalog, and DB2 Command Line Processor.

- Experience with DB2 utilities like REORG, LOAD, UNLOAD, COPY, RECOVER.

- In-depth knowledge of z/OS architecture, TSO/ISPF, JCL, and SDSF.

- Understanding of data modeling, and both physical and logical database design.

- Experience in capacity planning, problem resolution, and system monitoring.

- Familiarity with automation tools, RACF security, and mainframe scripting.

- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
