Datastage Developer

Job Summary :

We are looking for an experienced DataStage Developer with strong production support expertise to join our team in Chennai. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in IBM DataStage development, ETL pipeline support, and operational incident management. This role involves supporting critical data pipelines, troubleshooting ETL workflows, ensuring data reliability, and providing L2/L3 production support in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

The candidate must possess strong technical expertise in IBM DataStage along with mandatory experience in Appriss and Big Q platforms.

Key Responsibilities :

DataStage Development & ETL Support :

- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain ETL workflows using IBM DataStage.

- Support and monitor enterprise data pipelines and integrations.

- Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading activities across multiple systems.

- Develop reusable ETL components and optimize existing jobs for performance and scalability.

- Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across environments.

Production Support & Operations :

- Provide L2/L3 production support for ETL jobs and data integration platforms.

- Monitor daily batch processes, identify failures, and perform timely issue resolution.

- Analyze incidents, troubleshoot root causes, and implement preventive solutions.

- Coordinate with cross-functional teams for defect fixes and operational stability.

- Participate in on-call support and handle critical production incidents within SLA timelines.

- Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and support runbooks.

Performance Optimization & Reliability :

- Tune ETL jobs and SQL queries for improved performance and throughput.

- Optimize data processing workflows and scheduling mechanisms.

- Ensure system availability, reliability, and operational efficiency.

- Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms for proactive support.

Required Skills & Experience :

Must Have :

- 5+ years of experience in IBM DataStage development and support.

- Strong hands-on experience in IBM DataStage.

- Mandatory experience with Appriss and Big Q.

- Strong SQL and ETL concepts.

- Experience in production support / operations support environments.

- Good understanding of incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

- Experience handling L2/L3 support activities.

- Knowledge of batch processing and scheduling tools.
