Datacom Developer - Network Protocols

About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced Datacom Developer specializing in L2/L3 networking protocols to join our engineering team.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in C programming, deep understanding of networking concepts, and hands-on experience working with switches and routers.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and troubleshooting networking features and protocol implementations.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain software modules for Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols.

- Work on protocol implementations such as STP, VLAN, ARP, OSPF, BGP, RIP, DHCP, IPv4/IPv6, etc.

- Develop high-performance, scalable networking features using C programming.

- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues in switching and routing environments.

- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams for feature development, integration, and testing.

- Optimize network stack performance and ensure compliance with networking standards.

- Contribute to system architecture discussions and provide technical inputs.

- Write design specifications, documentation, and unit test cases.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in Datacom / Networking software development.

- Strong knowledge of L2/L3 networking protocols and packet forwarding concepts.

- Proficiency in C programming in an embedded or networking environment.

- Hands-on experience working with switches, routers, and networking test tools.

- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, Ethernet, routing, switching, and network diagnostics.

- Experience with debugging tools such as GDB, Wireshark, tcpdump, etc
