Database Engineer - SQL Server/PostgreSQL

We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer / DBA with strong expertise in database administration and development, particularly on AWS RDS. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, along with a strong focus on performance optimisation, reliability, and scalability of database systems in production environments.

Responsibilities :

- Administer, monitor, and maintain AWS RDS databases across development, staging, and production environments.

- Design, develop, and support database solutions using MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL.

- Perform SQL query optimisation, indexing, and performance tuning to improve application efficiency and scalability.

- Manage database availability, backups, restores, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.

- Troubleshoot database performance issues, locks, deadlocks, and resource bottlenecks.

- Work closely with application developers to support database design, schema changes, and release deployments.

- Implement database security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and compliance standards.

- Automate routine DBA tasks and monitoring wherever possible.

- Participate in production support, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.

Requirements :

- Strong experience as a Database Engineer / DBA with hands-on database development exposure.

- Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.

- Practical, hands-on experience managing databases on AWS RDS.

- Proven skills in SQL optimisation, performance tuning, and query analysis.

- Strong understanding of database architecture, indexing strategies, and execution plans.

- Experience supporting high-availability and mission-critical database systems.

- Familiarity with SDLC, Agile methodologies, and production support processes.

- Experience with database migrations to AWS RDS.

- Exposure to automation using scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, or Bash).

- Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools for databases.

- Experience working in cloud-native or DevOps-enabled environments.
