Database Engineer - PostgreSQL

Role Overview :

You'll ensure top-tier availability, security, and scalability while collaborating with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.

Responsibilities :

- Integrate with development teams to architect and support application database needs.

- Write optimized SQL & PL/pgSQL for high-performance querying.

- Monitor performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and improve query efficiency.

- Lead database migrations and routine data maintenance.

- Build scalable clusters, hot-standby and failover setups.

- Manage backups, recovery, and DR strategies using tools like Barman.

- Deploy and optimize PostgreSQL on AWS RDS for HA and scalability.

- Handle Linux server administration and troubleshoot system-level issues.

- Collaborate with DevOps to automate deployment, monitoring, CI/CD (Docker, Kubernetes).

- Proactively refine database configurations and query performance.

Must Have Qualifications :

- 5+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL development experience.

- Strong SQL and PL/pgSQL skills (procedures, triggers, views).

- Hands-on AWS RDS with PostgreSQL : deployment, HA, scaling, DR.

- Expertise in backup/recovery (Barman preferred).

- Experience with connection pooling (e.g. pgBouncer).

- Proficient in Linux server environments.

- Familiarity with DevOps tools: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines.

- Knowledge in JSON handling, query optimization, indexes, isolation levels.

- Excellent English communication and problem-solving abilities.

Nice to Haves :

- Cloud certification (AWS Database/SysOps).

- Exposure to monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog.
