Database Developer - Sybase

Key Responsibilities :

- Provide support and maintenance for existing applications, primarily developed using Sybase stored procedures.

Perform end-to-end database administration tasks, including :

- Monitoring and troubleshooting database systems.

- Performance tuning and optimization of queries and stored procedures.

- Ensuring high availability, integrity, and efficiency of database systems.

- Design, develop, and maintain stored procedures to fix issues and deliver new functionality in line with business

requirements.

- Conduct unit testing and debugging of stored procedures, ensuring code quality and accuracy.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to migrate business logic from stored procedures to Java, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal business impact.

- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex database-related problems in production and non-production environments.

- Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective database solutions.

Experience & Qualifications :

- Strong knowledge of database programming using stored procedures / procedural SQL.

- Proficiency in Transact-SQL (Sybase ASE, MS SQL Server).

Skilled in :

- Writing and analyzing procedural SQL using cursors, variables, loops, complex joins, subqueries,

temporary/intermediate tables.

- Query optimization, debugging, and performance tuning to enhance efficiency.

- Experience with database performance monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques.

- Familiarity with source control (Git), scripting (PowerShell), and Java integration will be a plus.

- Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
