Description :
Tasks :
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances. Our architecture uses AG and DAG architectures.
- Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security.
- Analyse, solve, and correct issues in real-time.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
- Maintain and configure Transaction Replication
- Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
- Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges).
- Perform database tuning and performance monitoring.
- Plan and implement backup and recovery strategies with Cohesity
- Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and processes.
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
- Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
- Apply data modelling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.
- Use Nutanix NDB to configure lower environments
- Requirements:
- 1-2 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA or similar role.
- Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models.
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
- Experience with Windows server, including Active Directory.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Flexible, team player, 'get-it-done' personality.
- Ability to organize and plan work independently.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.

- Experience with Azure cloud services is a plus.
- Knowledge of Oracle database administration is a plus.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python) is a plus.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Health Monitoring: Continuous surveillance of database performance, checking for server availability, connectivity, and critical hardware metrics like CPU, memory, and disk space.
- Backup & Recovery Operations: Executing and verifying daily full, differential, and transaction log backups. Respond immediately to failed backup jobs by following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Incident Management: Responding to system alerts and notifications. Resolve minor issues (e.g., failed scheduled jobs) and escalate complex or high-priority incidents (P1/P2) to L2 or L3 teams.
- Access Control: Managing user permissions, including creating logins, resetting passwords, and assigning roles based on established security policies.
- Routine Maintenance: Performing basic database "housekeeping" such as index defragmentation and statistics updates as part of regular maintenance plans.
- Documentation: Recording all configuration changes, incident resolutions, and updates to internal knowledge bases.
