Job Title : SQL Database Administrator (SQL Server & PostgreSQL)

Experience : 3 - 4 years (including 1 - 2 years in PostgreSQL)

Job Summary :

We are seeking a skilled and proactive SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with 34 years of hands-on experience managing Microsoft SQL Server environments, along with 12 years of experience in PostgreSQL administration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, security, and availability of our database systems. You will collaborate closely with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support mission-critical applications and contribute to performance optimization and automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities :

- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases.

- Monitor database performance and proactively resolve performance issues and bottlenecks.

- Perform and validate regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery operations.

- Administer user roles, permissions, and implement database-level security policies.

- Optimize queries, indexes, stored procedures, and conduct performance tuning.

- Participate in schema and data migration activities across environments.

- Automate recurring DBA tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).

- Maintain clear documentation for configurations, processes, and changes.
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support deployments and projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- 3 - 4 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.

- 1 - 2 years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database administration.

- Proficiency in T-SQL, query optimization, and indexing strategies.

- Familiarity with pgAdmin, psql, and PostgreSQL configuration.

- Experience with backup/restore methodologies and high availability options.

- Comfortable working in both Windows and Linux environments.

- Exposure to monitoring tools and performance diagnostics.

- Understanding of database security practices and compliance considerations.

- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

Nice to Have (Optional) :

- Experience with cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure).

- Familiarity with NoSQL or additional RDBMS (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB).

- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code tools.
