Role : Database Administrator (DBA)

About the Job :

We are seeking a highly experienced and versatile Database Administrator to join our global team.

You will be responsible for the daily support, maintenance, and optimization of a large and diverse portfolio of databases, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Informix.

This role involves critical on-call duties, participation in major migration projects, and continuous performance tuning to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities :

- Database Operations : Provide daily hands-on support for production database environments, primarily Oracle and PostgreSQL, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity.

- Performance Tuning : Proactively monitor, analyze, and tune database performance for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server instances, optimizing queries, indexing strategies, and system configurations.

- Backup and Recovery : Design, implement, and manage robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Oracle RMAN, DataGuard/GoldenGate, native PostgreSQL tools) to ensure business continuity.

- Patching & Upgrades : Plan and execute database patching, version upgrades, and migrations across supported platforms, minimizing downtime and ensuring compatibility.

- Database Migrations : Actively participate in major database migration projects, including the planning and execution of Oracle to PostgreSQL conversions.

- Automation : Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell, Perl, or Python for routine DBA tasks, health checks, and proactive alerts.

- Troubleshooting : Diagnose and resolve complex database-related issues, including connectivity problems, performance bottlenecks, and data corruption.

- Collaboration : Work collaboratively with application development teams, infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders to support new projects and resolve database-related challenges.

Required Skills :

- Oracle DBA Expertise : 5+ years of solid experience as an Oracle DBA, including hands-on experience with RAC (Real Application Clusters), RMAN (Recovery Manager), DataGuard, and/or GoldenGate.

- SQL Tuning : Strong proficiency in SQL tuning and optimization techniques across various database platforms.

- Scripting : Proficient in scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, or Python for database automation and administration.

- PostgreSQL Experience : Solid experience with PostgreSQL administration, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

- SQL Server Experience : Hands-on experience with SQL Server administration (e.g., installation, configuration, backup/restore, basic troubleshooting).

- 24x7 Support : Experience working in a global 24x7 environment with on-call responsibilities.

- Networking & Virtualization : Understanding of network concepts, storage, and virtualized environments as they pertain to database deployments.

- Communication : Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and team collaboration.

Preferred :

- Informix & MySQL : Experience with Informix and/or MySQL database administration.

- Cloud Databases : Hands-on experience with cloud-managed database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL).

- NoSQL Databases : Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).

- Operating Systems : Strong command-line proficiency in Linux/Unix
