Database Administrator - Maintenance & Implementation

Key Roles and Responsibilities :

1. Have a detailed inventory of all the database instances and services at all times

2. Identify critical databases and ensure proactive monitoring for the same

3. Conduct daily health checks on all databases and review health and performance

4. Establish scheduled tasks / processes for database indexing, archival, backups, etc

5. Manage escalation L2/L3 level calls or any tickets of advanced complexity

6. Ensure closure of all tickets by the team within agreed SLA

7. Work with stakeholders from other teams on strategic requirements and overall solution design

8. Implement new requirements post appropriate approvals

9. Establish backup policies and implement the same for short term and long-term backup and retrieval for critical databases

10. Ensure HA configurations for critical databases

11. Replicate critical databases to DR as required

12. Conduct regular system security reviews for all databases and deploy remedial measures post approval as required

13. Good understanding of ITSM and adherence to processes and SLA to ensure tickets and requests are logged and closed on time

14. Ensure appropriate approvals and processes are followed before any changes are executed

15. Monitor, manage databases and ensure timely backups for the same

16. Conduct HA failover and DR drills at regular intervals with 100% data integrity and concurrence

Experience :

1. The candidate should have 8 - 10 years of total experience with at least 3 years of hands-on experience as a Senior DBA managing the above daily tasks

2. Should have been in a senior role in at least 2 projects / cycles of database implementation and maintenance

3. Should have excellent hands-on skills in deployment and maintenance of the below areas :

a. Cloud RDS (MySQL, PostGreSQL)

b. On-Prem Databases (MySQL, PostGreSQL)

c. High Availability Configurations

d. Troubleshooting database performance and access issues

e. Replication of data to DR

f. Failover configuration, testing and failback to Live environments

4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English - Multilingual skills are a plus

5. Excellent planning and organizing skills
