Job Title : UDB Database Administrator
Experience : 7 to 10 years
Job Purpose :
We are seeking a highly skilled UDB Database Administrator (IBM DB2/LUW) with 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience to design, manage, and optimize large-scale database systems. This role involves ensuring availability, performance, security, and scalability of mission-critical databases, while also contributing to automation, DevOps, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities :
Database Administration & Management :
- Manage the design, distribution, replication, performance, and access requirements for IBM DB2/LUW databases (versions 10.1 to 11.5/12.1) on AIX and RedHat Linux.
- Design and develop physical database layers to support diverse application requirements.
- Ensure robust backup, recovery, archiving, and conversion strategies are implemented and tested regularly.
- Optimize and fine-tune database performance, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.
Automation & Infrastructure Management :
- Participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Elastic, and Terraform.
- Support the development and management of Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment automation.
- Write and maintain automation scripts to streamline routine DBA tasks.
Application & Development Support :
Consult and advise application development teams on :
- Database security best practices
- Query optimization techniques
- Performance tuning approaches
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure database solutions align with business and application needs.
Governance, Compliance & Documentation :
- Manage job scheduling, application releases, and database change processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal standards, security policies, and audit requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of database maintenance workflows, security measures, and performance metrics.
Qualifications & Skills :
Education :
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Experience
- 7 to 10 years of professional IT and infrastructure engineering experience, with significant expertise in IBM DB2/LUW database administration.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in IBM DB2/LUW (10.1 11.5/12.1) administration on AIX and RedHat Linux.
- Proficiency in backup, recovery, archiving, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible, Elastic, Terraform).
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation.
- Strong skills in SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Scripting expertise (Shell, Python, or similar) for automation of DBA tasks.
Soft Skills :
