About the Role :
- We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Data Modeller to join a forward-thinking data engineering team.
- This is a fully remote, permanent opportunity suited for a professional who brings deep expertise in enterprise data modelling, data architecture, and database design.
- In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data models that support business intelligence, analytics, and enterprise data management initiatives.
- You will work closely with data architects, business analysts, and engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable, high-performance data structures.
- The ideal candidate operates with precision, communicates clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders, and brings a strong track record of delivering enterprise-grade data models in complex environments.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Build and maintain ER diagrams using ErWin and ER Studio to document data structures across enterprise systems.
- Apply 3rd Normal Form (3NF) and dimensional modelling techniques to ensure data integrity and optimal query performance.
- Develop and manage data models within MS SQL Server, including stored procedures, views, and indexing strategies.
- Lead and contribute to Data Cataloging initiatives - defining metadata standards, data lineage, and business glossary documentation.
- Collaborate with data governance teams to enforce data quality standards and modelling best practices.
- Perform impact analysis and data model versioning for system migrations and enhancements.
- Review and validate data models produced by junior team members, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
- Translate complex business requirements into structured, scalable data architecture solutions.
- Participate in data architecture reviews and contribute to the development of modelling standards and conventions.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
- 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in data modelling and data architecture roles.
- Proficiency in ErWin Data Modeler - building and managing enterprise-level ER diagrams.
- Proficiency in ER Studio - logical and physical data model design.
- Strong experience with Data Cataloging tools and practices - metadata management, data lineage, and business glossary.
- Advanced proficiency in MS SQL Server - schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Deep understanding and practical application of 3rd Normal Form (3NF) and normalization principles.
- Experience with both OLTP and OLAP data model design.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong documentation and communication skills - ability to present data models to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred/Nice-to-Have Skills :
- Experience with dimensional modelling (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema).
- Exposure to cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks (DAMA, TOGAF).
- Experience with data warehousing and ETL pipeline design.
- Knowledge of dbt, Apache Atlas, or Collibra for cataloging and lineage.
- Prior experience in Agile / Scrum delivery environments.
