Job Description :

We are looking for an experienced Data Governance Lead to design, implement, and oversee enterprise-wide data governance capabilities across a multi-tenant data platform.


The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data governance frameworks, metadata and cataloguing systems, data quality management, data privacy, and cross-organizational stakeholder leadership.

This role requires establishing governance policies, defining operating models, collaborating with both technical and business teams, and ensuring consistent, compliant data management practices.

Responsibilities :

- Develop and maintain a comprehensive data governance framework that includes policies, standards, roles, and responsibilities.

- Establish a data governance operating model covering stewardship, ownership, approval workflows, and cross-domain accountabilities.

- Define guidelines for data classification, retention, data lifecycle, and privacy-by-design practices.

- Coordinate governance councils, working groups, and cross-functional governance activities.

- Lead the implementation and adoption of enterprise metadata and cataloguing tools (Purview, Informatica, Collibra, or similar).

- Define and enforce metadata standards covering technical, business, and operational metadata.

- Implement lineage visibility across ingestion, transformation, analytics, and consumption layers.

- Ensure metadata is accurate, complete, and up to date across environments.

- Define enterprise data quality dimensions, rules, thresholds, and monitoring processes.

- Implement data quality scorecards, dashboards, and automated rule enforcement.

- Lead root-cause analysis for quality issues and drive remediation initiatives with data owners and engineering teams.

- Establish processes for ongoing measurement of data accuracy, completeness, timeliness, consistency, and validity.

- Define and enforce data access governance, including approvals, segregation of duties, and usage policies.

- Ensure data classification, sensitivity tagging, and privacy constraints are adhered to across all domains.

- Collaborate with security, privacy, and legal teams to implement compliant data handling practices.

- Support audits, compliance checks, and risk assessments.

- Develop governance mechanisms ensuring complete isolation between tenant environments, including metadata, access, and quality domains.

- Define standardized onboarding and governance workflows for new business units or entities.

- Maintain consistency in governance controls across all tenant environments while supporting entity-specific needs.

- Act as the primary point of contact for all governance-related matters.

- Partner with data engineering, security, analytics, and business teams to ensure governance controls are embedded end-to-end.

- Lead workshops, training sessions, and awareness programs to promote data literacy and governance adoption.

- Manage feedback cycles and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

- Develop governance playbooks, policy documents, standard operating procedures, and stewardship manuals.

- Create onboarding guidelines for new entities or business domains.

- Ensure complete knowledge transfer to internal teams, including governance roles, tools, workflows, and best practices.

Key Skills Requirements :

- 7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or enterprise data leadership roles.

- Strong understanding of metadata management, lineage,?cataloguing, and data quality frameworks.

- Experience implementing or managing data governance platforms (IDMC, Collibra, Purview, Alation).

- Strong knowledge of data management best practices (DCAM, DAMA-DMBOK, CDMC, ISO standards).

- Deep understanding of data privacy, data classification, retention, and compliance principles.

- Experience working with multi-team or multi-entity governance ecosystems.

- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Certifications :

- CDMP (DAMA)

- DCAM

- Certifications in metadata system
